I don’t know about you but sometimes life feels a bit like you’re running down a steep hill. You know that feeling when the momentum carries you forward but you have no control over the speed – you just barely keep your feet on the ground and hope that you don’t roll your ankle or faceplant into the ground?
It can be hectic at this end of the year, between umpty million school activities, AFTER school activities, Christmas do’s, end-of-year parties, and all the deadlines. My head is spinning already.
If you need a little break from it all – a chance to breathe, and find some mindfulness amongst the crazy, I have something for you that will hopefully brighten your day – and it is something you can take forward into next year to help you find a bit more balance when things get a bit silly.
Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to contribute to an incredible project called Creativity Everyday, facilitated by Creative Waikato.

Creativity Everyday brings together 30 talented creatives from the Waikato region to share simple, enjoyable creative activities that you can do from anywhere, and it’s all for free!
The idea behind this project is to give everyone access to art, culture, and creativity in their daily lives. It’s to provide you with something simple and fun that will help expand your way of thinking about creativity. The activities are designed by real working creatives to give you an opportunity to explore how creativity fits into your world and how you can use creativity in your everyday routine to enhance your well-being.
It’s a collection of a wide range of projects, that anyone can do with simple, easily accessible items that you might find around you every day.
Each activity comes with a quick video and a guide to walk you through the fun creative project. Plus, you can easily fit these into your work breaks or downtime. It’s all about bringing some creativity into your daily routine.
My project is all about mindfully doing, paying attention to tiny details and creating interesting photographs, all with your smartphone! It’s called ‘Capturing Tiny Details’ and I think you’ll love it.
If you enjoy it, please feel free to share this amazing resource with your friends, family, and colleagues.
