This engagement session that I photographed with Kirsty and Rhion at the stunning Owharoa Falls in the Karangahake Gorge was so much fun.
We got to explore the rusticly romantic late 19th-century gold mining site at Victoria Battery, followed by the leafy rail trail and majestic Owharoa falls, (which is surprisingly close to the road.).
My favourite part of this shoot though? Honestly, there was so much variety in this location that everything ended up with a magical fairytale feeling. I love that Kirsty and Rhion were so utterly themselves, which lent an effortlessly cool vibe to their photos too. They were willing to have a bit of fun AND they let me experiment with some different lighting and ideas!
Enjoy this selection of my faves from their engagement session and don’t forget to scroll down and see how they used their photos at the end of the post!
It’s hard to pick a session favourite, but this is a strong contender! Love how the breeze chimed in to make this image extra magical!
Really awesome to work with, we had never done a couple shoot before but Kate made it fun and easy and knew some great spots for pictures, really enjoyed our day!

How they used their photos
After their shoot, they chose to print some gorgeous 11×14 inch prints for the wall. This is a great size to include in a larger gallery wall setting, or stacked together on smaller walls. I love making these wall mockups to show the different ways to enjoy and display photos from every session and to show you what different sizes look like on display. These 11×14 inch framed prints can feel big in your hands but fit perfectly into a small space like above a sideboard or in a reading nook.
